Spirit Dolls are for inspiration, decoration, adoration and imagination.

Each doll is completely handmade.  I use branches, batting, Spanish moss, yarn and fabric.  I never anticipated the variety of fabric I would collect in my search for interesting doll attire.  Everything from jeans, antique lace curtains, kimono silk and cashmere has been used, as well as adornments like buttons, shells, beads...whatever seems to complete the look.  The dolls are approximately 10 inches in height and very lightweight.  The process of finding all the elements is as much fun as the actual assembly!

To date, over 400 dolls have been created.  Styles are constantly evolving; no two are exactly alike.  Earlier Spirit Dolls had their eyes closed.  This suggested they were dreaming.  After exhibiting my life-size doll in Key West I began painting new faces with eyes open - perhaps symbolizing greater awareness and observation.

Spirit Dolls make a very personal and unique gift...weddings, anniversaries, celebrations of triumph and transition.  I enjoy hearing stories of why they were chosen and how they are displayed.  When I create Spirit Dolls for friends and family I select the colors and details I know they love.  Many things can capture and represent "Spirit".  I believe each doll is intended for a specific person.
